If you are donating to Sylvia Moon, please scroll to the bottom. Thanks!
Here’s the deal. Daniel Schneider has thrown down the challenge for 24 Hour Comic Day. The challenge to raise more funds than he will. I accept his challenge and I bring… COOKIES!!
What is 24 Hour Comic Day? Creators making 24 page comics in 24 hours to support charity. We’re raising funds for Literacy Alberta.
I already have a topic in mind for my submission. My entry will be a look at the history of the classic Chinese dress, the Cheongsam.
I’m looking for sponsors to help me win this challenge. If you are interested in sponsoring me, you can either come see me in person at the 24 Hour Comic Day at Happy Harbor Comics (details below) or else you can use paypal.
To help drum up sponsorship for my endeavour, I’m making the following offers:
Sidekick Package:
For every $10 donation you pledge to me, you’ll be able to grab some scrumptious Ms. Chan’s home made traditional and exotic cookies! I’ll have some old classic standbys prepared as well as some great new twists to the cookie you might not have expected.
Hero Package:
For every $20 donation, you’ll get an assortment of the above mentioned cookies, and I will throw in a custom Comic logo-inspired* cookie! You pick the inspiration, I provide the edibles!
Legend Package:
For every $50 donation, you’ll get the $10 assortment of cookies and I will make you a custom comic inspired* giant cookie! Not quite Galactus sized but you get the idea!
Cosmic Champion Package:
Well, for every $100 donation you pledge to me, I will offer you a personal, basic tutorial on digital comic colouring! I have spent many years working with some of the biggest pros in comic books and I will be happy to spend a few hours to show you the ropes of comic book colouring and talk about my behind-the-scenes experiences. And yes, I will bring cookies, too! Huzzah! Unfortunately, this offer is only valid within a decent travel distance from me.
Interdimensional Master Package:
Dan upped the stakes yesterday and I have to at least match him so I’m going Kung Fu on his cowboy hiney! For $250 I will take you shopping at a local Chinese grocery store! Ever wonder what that vegetable was? Get lost in the never-ending soy sauce aisle? Is purchasing meat cookies a good idea? I’ll show you the ropes of shopping at an Asian market!
BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!
Afterwards, I will personally give you Chinese cooking lessons and share some of my family’s recipes! Imagine.. home made wonton soup! The secret to restaurant dumplings! Plus, you know, I’l bring cookies! Unfortunately, this offer is only valid within a decent travel distance from me.
AND IF THAT’S NOT ENOUGH…!
As an added bonus, any and all donations of a minimal of a dollar will also come with the world’s favourite readable cookie — the FORTUNE COOKIE! Feel free to visit and ask me about the history of this not-so Chinese treat while I’m illustrating my chinese fashion inspired comic!
Come down to Happy Harbor Comics from 10am October 8th to 10am October 9th! More info on this event HERE!
*Disclaimer: Any requests for Martian Manhunter cookies will be filled with a package of Oreoes.
Note: If you would like the cookies shipped to you, then I would ask if you can help pay for postage costs, thanks.
