My SOPA/PIPA protest gameplan!

As many of you know, January 18th marks the day people are protesting SOPA. If you don’t quite understand it, in a nutshell, it’s terrible legislation that allows the takedown of sites which would ruin the internet as we know it and take away freedom of speech. Please read Michael Geist’s post as to why Canadians should participate in the SOPA/PIPA protest for a decent yet brief explanation. The National Post has a very good Q&A about it here.

Even though I’m no big player like Reddit or Wikipedia, who are both participating in the protest, I feel like I can still utilize my little website for this.

Once I blackout my website, I will take several screen grabs and then explain in detail why SOPA/PIPA is bad for Canadians, and send it off to both my Member of Parliament and the Minister of Industry (find your MP at here and here is the link to the Minster of Industry).

What if you don’t have a website? Write to them anyway! Send emails! Send snail mail! Take a screen grab of Wikipedia being down and let them know you do not want the internet to end up like that!

Will this accomplish anything? Maybe, maybe not. But I think it’s very important to make sure your legislators know and understand why you are against some laws. If no one speaks up or stand up, then the MPAA and RIAA will get their way. Don’t let American interest groups shape our lives. Take a stand! It’s worth it!

I decided to go as Zatanna for Halloween:

I was surprised how well it all came together. I went with the “corset” version of Zatanna. Not sure who first put her in a corset, it was either Adam Hughes or Ryan Sook. Either way, I really liked it!

Yeah, I needed to find more things to do battle with. But Sexy Pikachu wouldn’t so I settled for this wall devil

The outfit lasted the whole night and was really comfortable!
